Today Pastor David has gone from disgrace to amazing grace and now has served the Lord Jesus Christ at West Side for 18 years. He is standing in grace and teaching grace: To God be the glory! Knowing for sure that you have eternal life is the single most important issue in life. All people are separated from God by a sin barrier that no human effort can overcome (Isaiah 64:6; Romans 3:10, 12, 23). All human beings are born without spiritual life (Ephesians 2:1). That is why Jesus Christ, who is eternal God Himself, came in human flesh so that He could suffer and die in our place - as our substitute - on the cross of Calvary. When we believe in Jesus Christ for our eternal life He has promised to give it to us:
John 6:47 (NASB) "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life."
John 5:24 (NASB) 24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
To "believe" is simply to be convinced that it is true (Romans 4:21) that you cannot in any way contribute to your own salvation and instead you trust Jesus alone to give you that life freely - a gift of unconditional eternal life. It means to believe His promise to give eternal life to all who believe in Him for that life. Would you believe in Him today? It really is that simple!
When Jesus promises eternal life He means just that: life that is eternal!
John 10:28-29 (NASB) 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29 "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.
Romans 8:37-39 (NASB) 37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Nothing, Paul says, absolutely nothing can separate us from our eternal life. This is fully unconditional once saved always saved! When the Lord Jesus Christ gives you eternal life it is eternal. Why can your sin not cause you to loose this life? No! Why? Because your salvation, your eternal life, is about who He is and what He has done and not about who you are and what you have done or will do. You can contribute nothing to your salvation either in the receiving of it or in the keeping of it. Period.
Jesus never promised temporary life, nor did He put you on probation! He offers only one kind of life and that is unconditional eternal life. Have you believed in Jesus for this eternal life? Do you believe His promise? Then you have eternal life.
In order to learn and advance in the faith the believer must maintain fellowship with the Holy Spirit . When a believer sins (and he will!) he must name and site his sins to God the Father in personal prayer - it is an issue only between you and God and no one else!.This is called spiritual rebound. Just as when a basketball player misses the shot, rebounds, and shoots again, so the believer who sins must apply the spiritual technique of rebound found in 1 John 1:9. Spiritual rebound brings the believer the filling of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). he believer is now in the position to advance in the faith toward spiritual maturity.
The most important thing in the life of a believer is to be committed to the learning and application of the Word of God while under the filling and teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit. We are committed to helping you to advance in the faith through face-to-face teaching.
